About this event

Last fall, artists across the country sparked a nationwide wave of creative resistance, with hundreds of events unfolding across 47 states in galleries, libraries, theaters, schools, and public spaces. The urgency has only intensified, and we are mobilizing what comes next.

At The Action Lab, we are helping to shape and support this next phase of work, partnering with artists, organizers, and cultural institutions to ensure that creative expression is grounded in and accountable to movement organizing.

On May 1, 2026, Fall of Freedom is launching a national call to artists and arts institutions to create work rooted in this moment. From music and theater to exhibitions, comedy, and public protest, artists are invited to align their work with immigrant rights organizing and broader struggles against repression and state violence.

We’re also activating a series of events alongside partners, including with La Tejedora in Puerto Rico at El Hangar on May 2, and with Terraza 7 in Jackson Heights, Queens on the evening of May 1, with more details to come.

This is a call to deepen the role of culture in movement building and to stand alongside communities fighting for dignity and freedom. Learn more and get involved here.
