About this event

On March 14, in partnership with LPE NYC and the Initiative for Community Power, we’ll host an engaging panel with The Debt Collective, who are at the forefront of organizing and legal efforts to abolish student, medical, and other forms of debt that limit the life chances of working people. This event will feature Jane Fox, Chapter Chair of the Legal Aid Society; Luke Herrine, Assistant Professor of Law and Co-founder of the Debt Collective; Eileen Connor, Director of Litigation at the Project on Predatory Student Lending, Legal Services Center, Harvard Law School; and Jalil Mustaffa Bishop, Founder of the Equity Research Cooperative (EQRC). The panel will explore the work of the Debt Collective, with a focus on the organization’s use of law as a tool for power-building and transformative social change.
