Indigenous voices are essential to make sense of our world and its current trajectory.

This past weekend we hosted the International Indigenous Hip-Hop Festival to highlight Indigenous artists from across the Americas in the Bronx—hip-hop’s birthplace. The festival featured concerts, panels, youth workshops, and more with emerging and leading indigenous artists like Drezus and Renata Flores. In addition to these critical contemporary indigenous voices, we also had living Hip Hop legends participating in the festival, including the Founding Father and First Lady of Hip-Hop, DJ Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, as well as Melle Mel. It helped show the linkages between the radical historical origins of hip hop as an art form and its present, uplifting resistance, solidarity, and justice. We encourage you to look at the festival social media for images from the festivities, and stay tuned for more content in the weeks ahead!
