As homelessness hits record highs and federal housing support continues to erode, The Action Lab and our Anchor Partner, VOCAL-NY, are releasing a bold new framework for what a more holistic housing policy could, and must, look like. The Way Home makes the case that social housing without supportive services isn't enough to meet the needs of many people transitioning out of homelessness. Instead, they argue that a meaningful amount of permanently affordable housing must come paired with voluntary, integrated services including healthcare, mental health treatment, and substance use recovery support.
