She/her

Inspired at once by radical philosophers and tulips, Emma Cager- Robinson is looking for beauty. As a mechanism for change and source of inspiration, Emma uses beauty as the driving force behind her activism. With a focus on Consciousness-Raising and creating “Insurgents,” Emma uses media of all forms to change how Black Women interrogate culture and the systems they interact with on a daily basis. From the big boogeyman of Capitalism to increased access for abortion, there is no subject too taboo for conversation. Emma is concerned with World Building in the truest sense.

Rooted in a long line of jazz musicians and shaped as a second-generation movement worker, Emma’s ear was trained as much by ancestry as by experience. As a vocalist leading a six-piece acoustic jazz ensemble from 2008 to 2017, or navigating Direct To Consumer retails she treats every context as another site of study. This lineage of curiosity continues to inform her practice in the world.

A Texan at heart, she’s especially impassioned about spreading this energy through the South; as a means of completing ancestral business, and working in a long line of women committed to making the world suck less for their families and communities.
