Kara Gilmour

Kara Gilmour is the Executive Director of BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, a multigenerational arts organization nurturing creative expression and artistic process through education, residencies, and performance at the intersection of arts and social justice. She was previously the Senior Director of Community Action and Strategic Initiatives at Gibney where she developed partnerships with artists, survivors of intimate partner violence, and disabled dancers alongside community-based organizations. Kara has extensive experience working in public space, including the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy where she founded the Education and Stewardship programs, and the NYC Parks Department. She holds a BA from Wesleyan and was named a 2016 New York Community Trust Leadership Fellow and a 2017 Advocate of NYC.
