Modesto "Flako" Jimenez

Modesto ‘Flako’ Jimenez is an artist, performer and the Executive Director of Oye group, an organization he started in his native community of Bushwick Brooklyn. The organization is a creative incubator for artists, students and community members of all ages and of all mediums. Their work is grounded in the act of listening, which is what their name translates to in English "Listen up!" Moreover, Flako's currently touring his New York Times featured production named Taxilandia. This show immerses its audience in the flavors, sounds, sights, and dynamic history of a neighborhood confronting social stigmas and the realities of gentrification through the eyes of a taxi driver.
