Jerrod MacFarlane is the Development Associate at The Action Lab. He got his start in the movement with labor organizing, which then quickly led him to struggles around housing justice and the criminal legal system, including teaching at Rikers Correctional Facility through the People’s Education Initiative.

Jerrod is a member of the New York Working Families Party and sits on its State Committee. Since 2019, he has also been an organizer with the progressive donor network Resource Generation, where he has served on both the National Member Council and board. Jerrod currently serves on the board of public foundation Grassroots International (GRI) and leads GRI’s Donor Organizing subcommittee. He co-founded and co-manages the Fund Abortion Now! campaign, which has raised over $2.1 million for the National Network of Abortion Funds and its local affiliates.

Jerrod firmly believes a radically better world is possible and is excited to help build, to quote Robin D.G. Kelley, the “world not yet born.” He loves to read and recommend books, cook elaborate meals, take long walks, and spend as much time as possible in the company of friends, comrades, and family. Jerrod graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelors in International Politics and a certificate in Jewish Civilization.
