About this event

The Action Lab is proud to partner with Film Forum to present a special screening of American Pachuco, a documentary celebrating the life, work, and enduring legacy of playwright, filmmaker, and activist Luis Valdez.

American Pachuco tells the story of Valdez's lifelong commitment to elevating Chicano voices through theater, film, and cultural storytelling. His groundbreaking work has helped reshape the landscape of American arts and continues to inspire new generations of artists, organizers, and community leaders.

Following the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a special conversation featuring director David Alvaradoalongside two award-winning playwrights. Together, they will explore the cultural impact of Luis Valdez's work, the importance of representation in storytelling, and the continuing role of art in movements for justice and social change.

We invite our community to join us for an evening of film, dialogue, and reflection as we celebrate the power of storytelling to preserve history, strengthen communities, and imagine a more just future.
